This is what I heard maybe not what was said ---
The gospel can be a bit like a puzzle, when we come to a piece of the puzzle that simply doesn't seem to fit we need to hang on to those things we knew and concentrate on the 4 outside edges, so we can fill in the rest and eventually find the place those pieces that don't seem to fit go.
The four sides are 1- God the Eternal Father loves us and we are His children ... the genealogy line is one connection (us to Him - unlike our physical bodies which can get very convoluted) 2- Jesus Christ is our Savior and Redeemer, He did what He said he would do, He lives and prepared the way for us to follow. 3- The Restoration happened, the power of God, saving ordinances are on the earth and available to all who seek, ask just as Joseph Smith did. 4- There is a living prophet on the earth. reject the counsel and you are choosing not freedom but another's counsel. He also said his grandma when teaching him to do puzzles always said, "trust the box to give direction". He in this case he held up the scriptures as the box.
As I said the message loses something by being written down instead of delivered with the spirit and explanations but I enjoyed Tommy D Haws example and prayer for us to hold on to.
One ism that I also heard and like this one from Pres. Goates, he was speaking about not having contention in our lives, "do you want to be right, or married?" Relationships can be complicated. Pres. Somerville spoke about the Savior was prophesied about all through the bible and his life completed everyone with exactness. Example - (Micha 5:2 said He would be born in Bethlehem (the Jews at the time didn't ever ask Him where he was born they just assumed he came from Galilee so he wasn't the Redeemer they were watching for) many more - his testimony is that Jesus Christ is always the answer. ( stating just that doesn't support it like it was supported in the whole talk).
